Replace Harmful Materials in Your Kitchen for a Healthier Lifestyle

Say goodbye to harmful substances in your kitchen and embrace a healthier, toxin-free lifestyle. Plastic and other materials may be silently infiltrating our bodies and damaging our health. But fear not, there are steps you can take to minimize the risks.

Microplastics have become a common presence in our daily lives, but we don't want plastic-derived chemicals in our bodies, do we? By gradually replacing plastics with alternative materials, we can take a step towards better health. Don't worry, you don't have to throw away everything at once and stress about it.

Plastics made from petroleum-based sources don't decompose and instead break down into smaller particles called microplastics and nanoplastics. These insidious particles find their way into soil, water, and eventually into our bodies. Since we can't completely eliminate plastics, it's vital to minimize their use.

What are the most feared materials in our kitchen?

1. Avoid plastics:

Plastic containers and water bottles can release chemicals into your food, especially when heated. Just because it's labeled "BPA-free" doesn't mean it's free from other harmful substances. It's safer to switch to other materials.

2. Avoid teflon materials:

Teflon pans and baking forms can release perfluorooctanoic acid (PFOA), known to be harmful to our health. Damaged surfaces release even larger amounts of hazardous substances when heated. Consider replacing them with recommended alternatives.

  • Start by swapping out plastic materials for safer alternatives like glass, ceramic, stainless steel, cast iron, wood, or bamboo (unglued).

Here are some non-toxic materials we recommend for your kitchen essentials:

- Utensils: Choose stainless steel, wood, or bamboo for your cooking and serving needs.

- Bottles and Thermoses: Opt for glass or stainless steel to avoid potential chemical leaching.

- Lunch Boxes: Ditch plastic and go for glass or stainless steel options.

- Cutting Boards: Stick with wood, preferably unglued, to avoid harmful chemicals.

- Bowls: Glass, stainless steel, coconut, and bamboo are great alternatives to plastic.

- Pans: Say goodbye to Teflon and welcome stainless steel, cast iron, steel, and ceramics.

- Baking: Use glass or stainless steel ones. (Pyrex)

- Silicon: While safe for cold items, avoid using it for baking and acidic foods (e.g. fruits).

- Water Filter: Be cautious of plastic filter kettles and invest in high-quality under-sink or Berkey water filter systems for clean, chemical-free drinking water.

- Tea bags: Say no to plastic tea bags and switch to loose tea with a stainless steel strainer.

- Kettles: Ensure the interior is stainless steel and consider ceramic or glass options

  • Ascot (stainless steel or borosilicate glass)

  • Bella (ceramic)

  • Cosori Eletric Gooseneck (stainless steel)

  • Willow & Everett (stainless steel)

  • Cooktron (plastic outside, stainless steel inside -> water doesn‘t have contact with plastic)

- Coffee Cups: Use glass or stainless steel travel mugs instead of disposable cups for your daily caffeine fix.

Make the change and prioritize your health by replacing harmful kitchen materials with safer alternatives. Your body and the environment will thank you.
